Some library resources use EZproxy for authentication, but not as a proxy. Other resources operate outside the EZproxy ecosystem entirely. In some cases, authorized users login to EZproxy, but URLs do not include the EZproxy host name. Can Lean Library detect that users are authorized in these instances? Some examples: (1) Credo Reference and Oxford Academic requires users to login. After logging in, the URL reverts back to www.credoreference.com, not www-credoreference-com.ezproxy.institution.edu. (2) NY Times and WSJ require users to create personal accounts that are tied to the institutional subscription but operate outside the EZproxy system. Once a user has logged in to their personal account, users have access to restricted content and don't need a "click here to access" popup.
